Golden Milk Tropical Turmeric Smoothie | Get Inspired Everyday!

I’ve been into all things tropical during the last couple months. I think it’s because winter is starting to feel extra long, and I just can’t wait to feel the warm sun on my face again!

I thought I might get a little reprieve when I went to California to work for a week, but they had unusually cold weather, and I found myself wishing I had brought my down coat along. Everyone kept asking if I thought it was cold, seeing as how I was used to much colder Montana weather. But I always maintain that humid cold fronts off the ocean are some of the coldest, most bone chilling weather there is!

In any case, I’ve been making tropical smoothies several days a week because they seem to hit that winter spot just right. This one is particularly good with just a touch of spices like cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric to warm up the flavors.

If you want a more traditional Golden Milk recipe, check out my Golden Milk Iced Latté which can also be made hot. But I’ve been finding lately that it’s much easier just to take the same Golden Milk flavors, and add them to a smoothie. Plus you can’t beat the bright tropical flavors!

  1. Kari – I hope this smoothie dreamin’ of the Bahamas or at least the California surf and took the chill from those Montana winters from your bones. Lovely recipe, hun, great job!

  2. This is seriously a superfood smoothie, it sounds so fresh and tasty! (And you really captured that with the photos I think – they look great!)

  3. WOw ! Another wonderful turmeric smoothie recipe ! I absolutely love turmeric. It’s so good for you. Thanks for sharing. I will make this !

  4. I’m so like you in that I need tons of tropical kinds of things in the winter. I even start playing my ukulele to remind me of Hawaii! This smoothie looks awesome though – my kids are mango monsters so I don’t think I’d have a single complaint if I made this 🙂

  5. I make a similar mix with homemade kefir instead of coconut milk, banana and pineapple (kind of in season and on sale, now 🙂 ). Re the turmeric … here in northwest Montana my local grocery and all of the natural food markets are now carrying turmeric root. If you are mincing or grating ginger, just keep on going and grate some turmeric root, too! I also throw in a 1/4 tsp cayenne and a bit more black pepper. I’ve read that black pepper and fat (plenty in whatever milk) are needed to help the body make best use of turmeric. Cayenne goes great with the tropical fruits and melons – 1/4 tsp sounds like a lot but in the smoothie it gives a nice zip and cayenne has powerful health benefits also.

  6. Hi, Kari- Do you have a go-to source you could recommend for buying tumeric powder? Any suggestions are appreciated!

    1. I buy mine from the brand Simply Organic, and I’ll leave you a link below. I like to buy organic spices because conventional spices often have extra ingredients in them that I’d prefer not to consume, also conventional spices are irradiated. My local health food store runs sales on the Simply Organic brand and I’ve slowly been stocking my cabinet. I hope this helps and be sure to let me know if you have anymore questions!
