Spring is Finally Here!

Spring is Finally Here!

Today I just couldn’t resist posting a few photos of Spring. Even though they don’t qualify as an adventure, I wanted to share my Spring excitement with you. Be sure to check back on Friday for the usual weekly adventure.

The crocuses are blooming and the lilacs are budding. I’m so excited to see the green emerging in the landscape. I know that the abundance of summer produce is about to begin. I always get overly excited to go to Farmer’s Market again because everything tastes better when it is freshly picked. In addition to that, the snow in the mountains is melting and in a few weeks we will be able to start hiking some of the mountains closer to the valley.

DIY Homemade Pineapple Facial

DIY Homemade Pineapple Facial

A little while ago we made an easy coconut sugar scrub which is the best for soft skin all year round.  Sugar scrub isn’t suitable for your face, so what are we to do? Well, that is where a pineapple facial treatment comes in.

My sister discovered this trick a little while back and the results I’ve gotten have been fabulous. This is the quickest facial treatment I’ve ever tried with the most dramatic results. Normally, a facial takes a good 45 minutes between the scrub, mask, steam, toner, and finally moisturizing.

Fresh Pineapple Crisp with Coconut Whipped Cream

Fresh Pineapple Crisp with Coconut Whipped Cream

Fresh Pineapple Crisp with Coconut Whipped Cream is a little different than a usual crisp, it’s not baked. It is just fresh fruit, a macadamia nut topping, and coconut lime whipped cream. What does that mean for you? It means that in 20 minutes you can have a great dessert that is healthy enough to eat for breakfast.

Miner’s Peak

Miner's Peak

It was a phenomenal day in the mountains just west of Calgary in a town called Canmore. Canmore is situated in a corridor created by two mountain ranges running along either side. Overlooking the town are two peaks that are connected by a ridge, Ha Ling Peak and Miner’s Peak.  If you get started in the morning it is pretty easy to do both in a day.

Raspberry Almond Ice Cream

Raspberry Almond Ice Cream

The sun is shining and I’m eating raspberry ice cream in the late afternoon, this day just couldn’t be better. This recipe evolved almost on it’s own. I opened the fridge and there was the Raspberry Sauce I had just made sitting next to the cream, and what could I do? I just had to make ice cream, no two ways about it! (The recipe is formulated to start from scratch, so you don’t have to begin with the raspberry sauce it’s just how this recipe came about.)

Mountain Mexican Adventure

Pescado Blanco

We went out for dinner last night at Pescado Blanco, Mountain Mexican Cuisine in Whitefish, Montana.  If you ever come to ski Whitefish Mountain Resort (Big Mountain), you should check it out.  I almost always get the fish special, (pictured above) because they are just so good.  Tyler’s favorite is the Super Burrito.  One time we got the burrito for take-out and it weighed in at 4 pounds!

DIY Linen Spray

DIY Linen Spray | Get Inspired Everyday!

I have never bought linen spray, the price tag has always been a little high.  Not too long ago a good friend bought a bottle for me, (extravagant, spoiling presents are great), but now I’m hooked on the stuff because it just smells so good.  So…, I set out to make my own.  Instead of costing somewhere around $18 it only costs only $2.58 to make your own (prices based off of a 4oz bottle of lavender essential oil).

Lean Green Smoothie

Lean Green Smoothie

I was a latecomer to the green smoothie world. Every time I would see a recipe I couldn’t help but think: how could that be good? I finally took the plunge and put some fruit and greens in the blender. In full disclosure, there have been a few combinations that were not to be repeated. However, perseverance pays off because this one is really good.

Apgar Winter Hike

Apgar Winter Hike

Glacier National Park – Apgar Winter Hike

In the winter you start by hiking a couple of miles in to reach the trailhead for Apgar Lookout. This makes it a bit of an endeavor in the winter, so today we just went for a few miles, more just to get out than anything else. I love tromping through the glittering snow with the crisp air and the sound of water in the background.
