Facial Oil Cleansing Method

Facial | Oil Cleansing Method

This is the third post in a 3-part series of facial care, and it is perhaps, the most important. Steps 1 and 2, the Pineapple Facial and Baking Soda Exfoliation are primarily exfoliation with some cleansing. This Oil Method Cleansing is not only cleansing, but also mildly exfoliating and moisturizing. If I had to choose just one facial treatment, it would be this one because it does a little bit of everything. At this point, I use all three equally, each treatment once or twice per week. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my skin since I started these treatments on a regular basis.

Easiest Banana Nut Cake

Easiest Banana Nut Cake | Get Inspired Everyday!

I know that you’re not ‘supposed’ to eat cake for breakfast, but the good news is, this cake is healthy enough to eat anytime of the day. This recipe is so fast and easy that I find myself making it every week because it makes for the perfect grab and go. I’m not much for breakfast first thing in the morning, and that’s why I’ve been working on some recipes for on-the-go snacking around 10:00 a.m. Also, it’s great for using up those overripe bananas that I always seem to have.

Coastal Adventure | Newport to Coos Bay | Get Inspired Everyday!

Coastal Adventure | Newport to Coos Bay - Get Inspired Everyday! As we headed south toward Newport we said goodbye to the last of the sun rays. In the morning, we were lucky enough to catch a bit of sun for our walk on the beach. Even though our Newport days were foggy, it was definitely our favorite coastal town in Oregon.  Although, it should be said that we may be partial due to the fact that we discovered two excellent restaurants. I tend to be enthusiastic about anywhere with good eats.

Sesame Chicken with Stir-Fried Vegetables

Sesame Chicken with Stir-Fried Vegetables

This is my version of the popular Chinese take-out, Sesame Chicken. I’ve lightened up the recipe considerably by not coating and deep frying the chicken. Omitting a step also shortens the preparation time by a lot, as well making this a quick, easy, and healthy weeknight dinner.

DIY Baking Soda Exfoliation

DIY Baking Soda Exfoliation

I have used several different kinds of natural face scrubs and they all work, some better than others. Anytime you exfoliate, your face it is going to look better without several layers of dead skin dulling your complexion. Baking soda is my favorite method for several reasons; for one, it’s easy and two it’s really inexpensive. I found that I almost never used my oatmeal or sunflower scrubs simply because I would have to make them first. They both work really well but they require a little bit of preparation and preparatation = time.  Exfoliating with baking soda is also by far the most effective facial scrub I’ve used so far. For an exfoliating body scrub check out my Easiest Sugar Scrub.

Hot Chocolate with Coconut Whipped Cream

This recipe is my most versatile chocolate recipe. It’s just healthy enough that you don’t have to feel guilty about having it for breakfast, but decadent enough for a most satisfying dessert. While you might not think that coconut whipped cream would be as good, let me assure you that it certainly is. I love chocolate, really I crave chocolate, so this recipe is perfect for a spur of the moment chocolate fix. It’s really quick to make, looks amazing, and is so chocolaty and good that it’s perfect for any chocolate kind of occasion.

Satay Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Satay Chicken Lettuce Wraps

These Lettuce Wraps are wonderful, I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, I’m hooked and we’ll be eating these often.  I have a longstanding addiction to all things satay chicken. When we’re in Calgary we love to get Vietnamese subs in Chinatown and we always get satay chicken. I have been longing for one since November. Now I can have some of the same flavors at home with the addition of a lot more vegetables.

Spring is Finally Here!

Spring is Finally Here!

Today I just couldn’t resist posting a few photos of Spring. Even though they don’t qualify as an adventure, I wanted to share my Spring excitement with you. Be sure to check back on Friday for the usual weekly adventure.

The crocuses are blooming and the lilacs are budding. I’m so excited to see the green emerging in the landscape. I know that the abundance of summer produce is about to begin. I always get overly excited to go to Farmer’s Market again because everything tastes better when it is freshly picked. In addition to that, the snow in the mountains is melting and in a few weeks we will be able to start hiking some of the mountains closer to the valley.
