About Us:

Hello my name is Kari, the recipe developer and photographer here at Get Inspired Everyday!. My husband Tyler takes care of the technical areas of this website and has been patiently teaching me the in’s and out’s of the complicated computer stuff. We have been learning as we go, and sometimes the going is a little slow.

Tyler is Canadian and I’m American, so you will find an assortment of references to both countries. Over the last 4 years we’ve lived part time in both countries while waiting for Immigration and an assortment of other paperwork to come through. Currently, we are living in Kalispell, Montana but as of a few months ago we were residing in Calgary, Alberta. As you might imagine, by now we call both places home.

We love food and like nothing better than to spend a day in the mountains followed by a homemade Pizza Margherita. As much as we love to hike and travel, one thing remains constant… food (no surprise there). When we are traveling, the first item of of the day is to find the best local coffee shop. Contented with good espresso, we then plot the days’ restaurant adventure before setting off to explore. For us, travel and food are essentially one thing. We travel to eat more good food.

Food

The Food section chronicles my journey to make recipes that are both healthy and delicious. It doesn’t matter how badly I want to change my eating habits; if it isn’t truly satisfying, I won’t stick with it. Here you will find the recipes that I develop as well as a few inspirations from others. The credit will be noted in these recipes and often a link to their site will be listed as well.

I have categorized the recipes into individual dietary needs so that you can find what you’re looking for. We don’t have any particular diet that we adhere to, we’re just learning to include more fruits and vegetables into our everyday eating. Every once in a while we make something really indulgent, but for the most part we have been avoiding processed foods because we feel better when we eat better.

About the Food Categories:

In the Paleo section, some of the recipes listed have some cheese in them or a small amount of dairy. This is not strictly Paleo but many people eating Paleo include a small amount of raw dairy and or some cheese, preferably an aged cheese like Parmesan, Pecorino Romano, or a goat’s milk cheese.

In the Raw category, there are a few ingredients used particularly in the desserts that are not raw, such as maple syrup and cocoa powder. Feel free to substitute carob powder and your raw sweetener of choice if desired.

Finally, if you are cooking for someone that is gluten free, you’re going to want to make sure your ingredients are truly gluten free.  Some people are sensitive to anything processed in a plant that isn’t a gluten free processing plant.

We try to seek out the best quality ingredients, because better ingredients = a better final product.

Adventure

In this section, you will find a little bit of everything, hiking in Glacier and Banff National Parks, restaurant endeavors, and traveling. We love to spend time in the mountains and have just gotten into scrambling. Up until now we’ve spent a lot of time in the Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park. This year we’re planning more adventures in Glacier National Park since we’re currently living in Montana.

Lifestyle

This section contains recipes to make your own projects and products. My skin is sensitive to most any cleaning or body care products so I’m learning to make them with natural ingredients. Sprinkled in, you will find tutorials for home projects as well as fashion. I use the word fashion lightly here; not by any means do I mean high fashion, just things that I like. I’m currently interested in DIY projects for updating the clothes that I already have or projects that can be made for just a few dollars.

    I love your site! And Montana is my most favorite place on earth (besides my home on Maunawili Hawaii).

    I am an 80 year old grandmother who is planning to take three 13 year-olds to Yellowstone National Park next June 2020. I am preparing a travel booklet for them for Christmas. Your photo of Fountain Painted Pots is unbelievable as are all your photos. Would you grant me permission to use that photo in my booklet/ It is a love present from Grammy. Thanking you in advance

    Hi Kari!

    I’m not even sure how I found your site … a rabbit hole I’m sure … but there is one word that always gets my attention on a site and that’s “inspiration.” And when I clicked on your inspiration and read, “travel and food are essentially one thing. We travel to eat more good food,” I knew I’d need to spend more time here! My daughter and I travel exactly the same: espresso before all else, then restaurants and then adventure. We did her 2 week spring break in Europe exactly like that and I highly recommend it. That said, I can’t wait to dig into your recipes and your adventures. Thanks for sharing!

And I love the way you travel, definitely espresso before all else, unless I’m in the wilderness, then I ‘settle’ for pour over coffee which is hardly settling at all since it always tastes amazing when you’re outdoors!

    Hi Kari, I found you looking for Rosemary almonds. No, I found YOU looking for rosemary almonds. I found you while I was looking for rosemary almonds. We love them, but they are so expensive, I wanted to make them for myself. So thank you!
    Question: Do you entertain? I am looking for healthy, inexpensive meals for the college group of 20-30 from church we host for dinner and bible study every Monday. These kids are hungry. And most live on campus nearby, so are very thankful for each home-cooked meal. Any ideas would be appreciated.

      I’m so glad you found my website and I really hope you enjoy the Rosemary Almonds! I do entertain, but usually not for 20-30, however these are my favorite budget friendly things to make – veggie meat stew with potatoes – spaghetti, (can be gluten free) – thai curry with steamed rice – anything Mexican inspired like rice and bean bowls with either sausage or chicken added in and all the toppings or tacos of any kind – I also like to do taco bowls with rice as a base or sweet potatoes in the winter months. I hope this helps you out a bit, and be sure and let me know how the almonds go or what you’ve been making!
