In the Icefields Parkway Drive Part 1, we left off halfway through at Saskatchewan River Crossing. As you head on in your journey, keep a lookout to your right for the weeping wall, it’s enormous and very impressive! You’ll climb some elevation into the Athabasca Glacier region, and it’s here the views get serious. You will definitely need to stop the car to get out and appreciate the magnitude of where you’re at!
The Icefields Parkway drive stretches over 144 miles from Banff to Jasper, and it’s the most gorgeous road I’ve ever been on (which is saying something since we drive Going to the Sun road several times a year)! The drive is filled with over 100 glaciers, numerous waterfalls, and breathtaking, glacial colored lakes. Today, I’m taking you on a tour through the first half of this drive up to the Saskatchewan River Crossing.
We’re in the middle of a Canadian Adventure! You’ve already had a preview with Lake Agnes and the Teahouse Hike and the Highwood Ridge Adventure. Today, I want to take a little time to tell you where we’ve been and where we’re going so you can follow our route as I post it over the course of this winter.
