Overview Map Of Canmore
We’ve spent a few weekends in and around Canmore over the last few years, and it’s always a blast. Canmore is situated halfway between Calgary and Banff, which made it a convenient getaway for us. There’s a whole town of quaint shops, bistros, and really awesome hiking surrounding the whole area. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll take you along on a couple of the hikes we did in this area.
We ate a couple of places in Canmore during our last trip. The Harvest Cafe has a great bistro menu as well as coffee and Wi-Fi. I had the Chicken Curry Wrap with oven-roasted chicken, spinach, and diced apple all wrapped up with their curry mayo – served with a side salad, Yum! I’m totally crazy about curry mayo now, it’s awesome on everything! Tyler had the Harvest Classic Grilled Cheese with ham, salami, dill pickle, and cheddar cheese on multi-grain bread – served with a side of marinara and a side salad. It was sort of like a pizza sandwich with the toasted cheesiness melting into the salami and ham. We also got a couple of coffees here before heading out to the mountains.
We also spent a bit of time at Mountain Mercato. This place was so much fun, but probably because I’m obsessed with food! It’s a gourmet food store with all sorts of imported goodies. They also have a small deli/cheese case that’s perfect for packing a picnic, and a menu for take-out or eating in their quaint dining space. Definitely give yourself a little time here for poking about and finding some treasures to take home!
The day we were chased off Highwood Ridge by a violent thunder/lightening storm, we spent the remainder of the afternoon hanging out at the Spice Hut and enjoying copious amounts of Indian food.
Butter Chicken will always be a favorite but this time, we ordered a Chicken Korma and it was totally delicious. Add, saffron rice and garlic butter naan, and you have the perfect comforting meal after a strenuous (and rainy) workout.
See you next week for a scramble up Mount Lawrence Grassi!
