Time has really flown since I wrote last year’s Happy Holidays from Glacier. So much has changed but obviously one thing’s the same, and we’re still spending good quality time in the mountains during the holiday time off! If you’d like some more info about what’s available during Glacier’s off season, the link to the 2014 post below will give you lots of tips for a winter visit.
While access Glacier is really limited during the winter season, it’s no less magical because everything turns into a sparkling wonderland. We love to get out and snowshoe or cross-country ski as many times as possible over the Christmas break.

Whenever we’re out and about in Glacier, we almost always finish that day on the shores of Lake McDonald.
There’s something about taking the time to watch the sunset, and watch the alpenglow filtering across the mountain faces before fading into darkness, even if it is 15ºF!
Every once in a while we stay to watch the stars come out…
…and in this case the full moon cresting over the mountains.
Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season filled with friends and family, and we’ll see you soon for another Zion National Park adventure!
Ummmm, your alpinglow picture (well, ALL OF THEM) is FABULOUS. I might need to get a print of that. Just….spectacular. All of them. I’m amazed.
Thanks, that means a lot coming from you! I’m really hoping to get my portfolio up this year, but we might be able to work something out sooner so that you can get that print if you decide you want one!
Oh the colors!!! Love the colors of the pebbles in both the waterfall and lake pictures. You did a beautiful job on these. I bet it was some long, cold days, though;) thanks for sticking it out for these!
It was a long cold day!!! We had to hop back in the car a few times to warm up a bit, good thing I brought my sleeping bag for extra insulation – really helps to warm you back up!
WOW the alpine glow ant the mirror smooth lake is just perfect. Lucky you for catching such a marvelous day. Really enjoyed your pictures.
Thanks, it was a really perfect day!
