The day with hiked to Cobalt Lake in Glacier National Park was extra spectacular. The day started off with fog and snow in August, but the sun quickly came out, and the views were stunning all around.

We made it a very long day by first stopping at Rockwell Falls, then heading all the way up to Two Medicine Pass, (coming soon). Finally to end off the day, we took the few minute off-shoot trail to reach Cobalt Lake. Once there we had a very late lunch, and enjoyed the warmth of the sun after being in the windy pass.

One thing we loved about this area is all the gorgeous red rock. Something about it really makes the scenery extra gorgeous.

Even in late August there were still wildflowers to see since there’s so much water near this trail.

And I have to say having lunch after doing the pass was the right move for us. It was so gorgeous it would have been easy to just lounge away the afternoon in the sunbeams. Especially since the night before we had quite the rainstorm!

If you do have the time and lots of energy, I definitely recommend doing Two Medicine Pass as well. The view above is of Cobalt Lake on your way to the pass. And once we were there, we got to look straight down into the stunning color of this lake. Whether you see it from above, or sit by it’s shores, there’s really no doubt why it’s named Cobalt Lake!
