Easy to make in 10 minutes or less, this peanut butter dip makes the perfect healthy snack or dessert, but tastes decadent. It’s naturally gluten-free, and we love to serve it with assorted seasonal fruit. This healthy peanut butter dip is our favorite for Apple slices, strawberries, bananas, and grapes.

This peanut butter dip is inspired by my friend Heidi, who makes it as a quick and easy snack. She made some one afternoon when she was over at our house, and we all loved it.

It took only minutes to mix, and we enjoyed her delicious snack with apple slices. I knew right away I wanted to get some measurements down so I could share her delicious creation with you.

Ingredients & Substitutions

- Greek yogurt – I use a plain full-fat Greek yogurt that doesn’t have any thickeners in it for the best flavor and texture. You can use any plain yogurt you’d like, but Greek yogurt has a nice, thick texture that works well for this dip.
- Peanut butter – I use natural creamy peanut butter that doesn’t have any added sugar or salt. You can also use another nut butter like almond butter or cashew butter. For nut-free, use your favorite seed butter.
- Honey – maple syrup, or agave nectar all work in this recipe. I kept the sweetener to a minimum so the fruit is bright and sweet, but feel free to adjust it more or less to your taste.
- Cinnamon – a touch of Vietnamese cinnamon, which is packed with flavor, is the perfect complement.
- Vanilla – a little vanilla extract adds a ‘dessert’ like element to the mix.
- Salt – since we’re using an unsalted peanut butter, a bit of sea salt really brings out the flavor here.
How to make this Peanut Butter Dip step by step

Step 1: Start by mixing the peanut butter together with the Greek yogurt until thoroughly combined.

Step 2: Next, add honey or maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix until thoroughly combined, then add any extras to taste, like extra salt or sweeten it if desired.
I purposely kept the measurements for the sweetener to a minimum, so that when you dip the fruit into the peanut butter dip, the fruit tastes sweeter than the dip.

Step 3: We like the balance with the fruit being the sweetest part of this recipe, but feel free to tweak the amounts to your liking.

Step 4: Serve the dip right away with your choice of fresh fruit. Or refrigerate to serve later.

FAQ’s
There are 2 main ways to make peanut butter dip. I like to make it with Greek yogurt as a healthy snack or dessert, but the other way is to make it with cream cheese and whipped cream like a decadent dessert.
Fresh fruit tastes best, but graham crackers and pretzels make a nice addition to a large snack platter.
Storing leftovers
- To store – store any leftover peanut butter dip in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to five days.
- Make ahead – this peanut butter dip is a great make-ahead recipe, and the cinnamon benefits from being made ahead of at least four hours.
- To freeze – this recipe does not freeze well.

Tips & Tricks
- I like to use a natural peanut butter free from sugar and salt. But this does mean the texture of this recipe is slightly different each time I make it, depending on the peanut butter. Be sure whatever peanut butter you use is unsweetened, or omit the maple syrup.
- If you find the dip thinner than you like, add a bit more peanut butter. If the dip is too thick, add more Greek yogurt.
- We love seasonal fruit with this peanut butter dip, but so far, everyone’s favorite fruit flavor pairing is apples.
- Cosmic crisp apples are extra delicious with this peanut butter dip, but Honey crisp and Pink Lady are very good too. Granny Smith apples are readily available year-round and work well with this. They have a slight tang that pairs well with the richness of this dip.
Dietary Options & Substitutions
- Dairy-free – try using your favorite dairy-free yogurt instead of the Greek yogurt called for. The dip will be thinner, so start with less yogurt, then add until the dip is the consistency you like.
- Paleo – use a dairy-free yogurt that is Paleo-friendly, along with almond butter or cashew butter.
