Description

Similar to applesauce this Slow Cooker Spiced Pear Sauce is super easy to make thanks to the slow cooker. It’s perfect for a healthy snack, but it also pairs well with both chicken and pork chops as well. It’s gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and paleo as well.

Ingredients

Scale

2 pounds ripe pears

1 pound apples, I used Granny Smith

1 star anise

1/2 cinnamon stick

1/2 vanilla bean

Instructions

Core the pears and apples, and cut them into chunks roughly 2″ x 2″.

Place all the ingredients into a 4-5 quart slow cooker, place the lid on and turn the heat on to low.

Cook for 8 hours or until the pears and apples have softened.

Remove the whole spices and scrape as much of the vanilla seeds out of the pod as you can.

Place the pear sauce into a blender and blend until mostly smooth.

This keeps 4-5 days in the refrigerator and can be frozen for 1-2 months in a tightly sealed container.
