This spa water is a must make every strawberry season since it’s so bright and refreshing! Paired together with the freshness of cucumber and lemon along with some mint sprigs, this water is anything but boring. It’s easy to make and looks gorgeous for any kind of backyard bbq or for baby and wedding showers.
Is spa water worth the trouble… as it turns out, yes it is! I’ve never taken the time to find out what the fuss was about until last week when I had 4 strawberries left alone in their big empty carton. As I pondered what I might do with just a couple of berries, I decided to make some spa water including cucumber, lemon and mint from my garden.
It was a big success in terms of flavor, whether or not these infused waters are all they’re cracked up to be in the ‘better healthy department’ is a question for the scientists. As far as I’m concerned, spa water is quick and easy to make, and it makes a great change from Lemon Water. There is evidence that infused waters not only provide you with more vitamins and minerals, but they also help you stay hydrated w/o retaining excess water (and I’ll have to say, my experience backs up these claims)!
Whatever you put in your spa water literally infuses it, and I’ll take that freshness of flavor any day over plain water. There’s an endless variety of yummy things to put in your water. Just last week while I was getting my hair cut, my stylist told me she puts leftover pineapple cores into a pitcher of water, which is right up my alley!
How to make this Strawberry Cucumber Infused Water
Infused water is super simple, just place all the fruits/veggies you want to use into a pitcher and fill with water. I noticed that the water had the best-infused flavor after it had steeped for 6 hours.
You can keep it in the fridge for up to 2 days. But it’s best to keep it no longer than that. After 48 hours you’ll need to start over with fresh ingredients.
I also tried this recipe without the mint or any other herbs, and I found I rather enjoyed it that way as well. As your water sits in the fridge it will gradually turn pink over time from the strawberries.
Enjoy all summer long!
