Crockpot Applesauce

lightly scented with cinnamon, and easy to make in the slow cooker, this applesauce has a no peel option and can be made ahead and frozen for months to come.

step 1

Quarter your choice of apples and add them to a slow cooker bowl along with the remaining ingredients. All apple suggestions are on the blog.

step 2

cook over low or high in the crockpot until the apples are completely softened. remove the cinnamon stick.

step 3

transfer the cooked apples to a high speed blender and blend until smooth. pass the applesauce through a fine mesh sieve if desired for even more smoothness.

step 4

serve warm or cold. Refrigerate leftovers or freeze in airtight containers for applesauce over the next months.

1. use soft apples meant for applesauce rather than firm baking apples.

2. the cinnamon stick really is better than ground cinnamon, but both work.

3. use orange juice in place of water for a fun variation.
