Molasses Ginger Cookies

(family recipe + Gluten free)

a classic holiday cookie, these molasses ginger cookies have been a family recipe for decades and they're incredibly tasty & a crowd pleaser!

step 1

Start by measuring out and prepping the ingredients listed. you'll find more tips and substitutions on the blog.

step 2

Next add the sugar, butter, and spices to a mixing bowl and cream them together. This helps to bring even more flavor out of the spices.

step 3

Then add the molasses and egg and beat until creamed and combined. Tip: lightly oil the measuring cup so the molasses comes right out!

step 4

Add 1 of the recommended flours along with the baking soda and mix just to combine. I have 2 gluten-free flour options, or you can use all-purpose flour.

step 5

Next use a cookie scoop or spoons to evenly portion out the cookie dough. Next roll them into rounds and coat them in a layer of sugar.

step 5

Bake until crinkles appear, but the cookies should still be moist in the centers. Let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack.

3 key tips

1. be sure to use 1 of my flour recommendations for the best textured cookies.

2. these cookies freeze well, so bake up a bunch before the holidays to have on hand.

3. serve these with orange sherbet for a tasty flavor combo & easy dessert.
