This refreshing Watermelon Juice is easy to make with extra fresh flavor from the mint and lime. It’s perfect to take along to the office, or out hiking, and the star of the show at backyard bbq’s!
I feel like I’ve been holding back on you with this recipe, (not intentionally by any means). But I’ve been making this for over a year, but somehow I didn’t get a recipe written until now! It started last summer when I heard about people making their own gatorade type drinks. And I thought why not use blended up watermelon, after all it’s 92% water.
And you know what, it really works. This is the best thirst quencher I’ve ever had! It tastes equally good sipped on a patio, or while hiking in the baking hot sun. It contains naturally occurring fruit sugar and salt which makes it great for ultra hydration.
Seriously, it’s better than water when you’re exercising for hours on end. That’s not to say you can give up drinking water or anything, but this Watermelon Thirst Quencher is a game changer. Think of it as nature’s healthiest gatorade.
We’re so crazy about this stuff in fact that I’m blending up 30 pounds of watermelon, and freezing it to go on our Canadian Icefields trip. For the first couple of days it will act as ice in our cooler, but as it melts we’ll be drinking it to recover from long miles in the mountains.
Let’s talk about how to make this Watermelon Juice
You can make this recipe in it’s simplest form – just blended up watermelon. But my favorite way to make this is with some freshly squeezed lime juice and muddled mint added to the mix.
First blend up your watermelon, then add freshly squeezed lime juice, and finally mash some mint in. I just mash the mint sprigs against the side of the container before removing them. You can leave them in for a stronger flavor, but it does make it harder to sip when you keep running into mint leaves.
Then pour it into glasses, add some ice, and enjoy all summer long!
I’m so completely hooked on this stuff, I’m already dreading the end of watermelon season! I buy a ridiculous amount of watermelon every week in the summer – I mean like 30+ pounds most times. People always think I’m throwing a party, but no… I’m just making this by the gallons!

Description
This refreshing Watermelon Juice is easy to make with extra fresh flavor from the mint and lime. It’s perfect to take along to the office, or out hiking, and the star of the show at backyard bbq’s!
Ingredients
8 cups cubed seedless watermelon, 2 1/2 pounds
1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice, from 3 limes
4 sprigs of fresh mint, 1/8 ounce or 6 grams
optional pinch of sea salt
Instructions
Place the cubed watermelon in a blender, and blend until smooth. Add the lime juice and blend to combine.
Place the mint sprigs in the blender container, and mash them against the side with the back of a spoon to release the flavor. Remove the mint sprigs, and stir to disperse the mint flavor. Serve the thirst quencher over ice.
You can keep this in the refrigerator for 4 hours ahead of time. After a half a day, it doesn’t taste quite as fresh anymore, but it’s still good.

Have you tried freezing the drink. Then when you get ready you can put it in the blender and have it like a freeze and make summer last a little longer.
That sounds like a good idea because I’m always a little sad when watermelon season finally ends!
Omg I NEED THIS! Besides, watermelon is my absolute favorite fruit
Me too! We go through 3 big watermelons a week during the summer because it’s just so good!
Love drinking this in the summer! I’m a lil more lazy in the way I make it, just blend the mint right together with the other two ingredients.
P.s. use only 6-12 mint leaves if you blend it with the watermelon as it releases more flavor.
Sometimes I blend the mint in too, but you have to drink it faster because it doesn’t seem to keep very well. 🙂
